We understand plans can change unexpectedly. To cancel or change your booking, please notify us in writing as soon as possible. However, please keep in mind that the closer your cancellation is to the hire day, the higher the cancellation cost will be. This is because it becomes harder for us to find a replacement booking.

But don’t worry! If you need to cancel or postpone your booking and give us at least 90 days’ notice before the start of the hire period, you can receive a full refund (including your deposit). There will be a small administration fee of $90 (or a greater amount determined by the Company).

If you give us less than 90 days’ notice, a cancellation charge will apply based on a percentage of the total rental contract. Check out the table below for more information:

At Red Dirt Rentals we want to make sure you have peace of mind when using our equipment. While our equipment is insured, you may still be responsible for a certain amount in case of damage or accident. To alleviate any concerns, we offer options to reduce your liability. Check them out below and choose the best one for you!

The Max option is not available on rental periods less than 15 days or discounted relocation specials.

Please be aware that security bond returns can take up to 21 days to be processed from the drop-off date or date of claim resolution (if applicable).
The Hirer acknowledges and agrees that any damage liability reduction option shall not operate to limit liability if the Hirer breaches the hire agreement. No liability reduction option will provide protection against roof or under body damage to vehicles. Refer to full hire terms and conditions for further information.

At the start of your trip, a security bond must be paid. The amount you pay depends on the Liability Reduction Option you select. This bond is held as an imprint of your credit card for the duration of your journey. If no damage or accident claims are made, it will be refunded to you. Please note that, in some cases, security bond returns can take up to 21 days to process from the drop-off date or date of claim resolution.

We want to take a moment to discuss our Liability Reduction Options. While they cover damage or accidents costs to our 4WD’s, it’s important to note that they don’t protect against other unexpected setbacks that may occur during your holiday.

For this reason, we highly advise investing in Travel Insurance. Not only does it provide peace of mind, but it can protect against a variety of issues beyond your control, such as trip cancellations, delayed departures, medical emergencies, lost/stolen items, and accidental injuries caused by you. Without travel insurance, you could end up paying out of pocket for unexpected problems or lose money if you must cancel a trip. Investing in travel insurance can save you thousands of dollars in the long run. So please, consider protecting yourself by taking out travel insurance before embarking on your next adventure.

At Red Dirt Rentals, we believe that transparency is key to building a great relationship with our customers. Luckily, all our 4WD rental vehicles come with unlimited kilometres and no additional driver fees. This means that you can enjoy your adventure to the fullest without any worries about exceeding your mileage! However, we do have additional fees to keep in mind. Here are the details:

  • One Way Fee: You may incur a fee if you pick up and return the 4WD at different locations. This fee is waived if you rent for more than 21 days.
  • Young Drivers Fee: Drivers aged 21 – 24 years will incur a $30 per day young driver fee.
  • Out of Hours Fee: We charge a fee for pick-ups and drop-offs that are outside of our regular hours. Hours may vary by location, so please check our website for the latest information.
  • Refuelling Fee: If the vehicle is returned with less fuel than when it was picked-up, a fuel service fee will be charged.
  • Cleaning Fee: We kindly request that you return our vehicles in a reasonably clean state. If the condition is deemed excessively dirty (both interior and exterior), a cleaning fee of $100 per hour will be charged. No need to panic, though – you don’t have to get it professionally cleaned. A bit of sand from the beach won’t hurt, but if you bring back half a ton of it, you’ll probably be charged. Similarly, if you enjoy off-roading, we kindly ask that you give the vehicle a quick wash before bringing it back.
  • Administrative Fee: In the event of damage Red Dirt 4WD Rentals will charge an administration fee to cover the costs of processing the paperwork.
  • Optional Extras: A fee will apply if you ask for extras equipment such as child seats, extra outdoor tables & chairs, crockery, and bed linen.

While we don’t provide an airport pick-up or shuttle bus option, you can easily reach us in no time. All our rental depots are conveniently located just 10 minutes away from the nearest airport!

Absolutely! Just make sure you inflate and reflate your tyres accordingly.

Of course! But do avoid crossing any areas where the vehicle may be submerged or at risk of damage. Our top tip is to keep the water below the rim, which is the outer edge of the wheel that holds the tire. This will help you steer clear of any unfortunate car mishaps.

Our 4WD’s are made for adventure, but we kindly ask that you avoid driving on specific routes such as the Canning Stock Route, Old Gunbarrel Highway, Old Telegraph Road Cape York, Fraser Island, or the Simpson Desert. Also, please refrain from driving in circumstances that could cause damage to the vehicle, like submersion in water, driving through flooded areas, or contact with salt water. If the car is unsafe or any warning lights are illuminated, please do not drive. Lastly, make sure to adhere to all legislation, regulations, rules, or by-laws relating to road traffic. Let’s keep our vehicles and routes safe for everyone to enjoy!

Our 4WDs are available to drivers of 25 years and older.

Hirers under 21 years of age are not permitted. Hirers 21-24 years of age with incur a $30.00 per day young driver fee.

No, an overseas or interstate licence is fine. Please note if your license is not in English, it is recommended to carry an international driver’s license with you.

A physical, valid credit or debit card as well as a current, full, and valid driver’s licence, all in the driver’s name. Any additional drivers must also be present at the time of rental and provide a current, full, and valid driver’s licence.

Yes! Before you hit the road with our 4WD vehicle, we’ll guide you through all of its amazing features. Feel free to voice any questions or concerns you may have – our team is here to help!

We kindly request that you return the vehicle in the same condition as when you picked it up, to prevent any extra charges. This includes filling the gas tank and returning it reasonably clean. Upon return, please let us know of any issues with the vehicle so we can promptly address them. Our goal is to provide you with an efficient and satisfactory rental experience.

Yes! All our 4WD’s have an automatic transmission.

Unlimited! That’s right, there are no extra fees to worry about. So go ahead and explore to your heart’s content.

Our vehicles are perfect for any adventure, comfortably seating up to 5 people. Plus, we’ve made sure to leave plenty of room for your 40L Engel fridge, so you can bring all the essentials with you.

When you hire from us, you’ll have everything you need in case of an emergency on the road. We provide a complete recovery gears kit that includes a tool kit, wheel brace, tyre gauge, snatch straps, trolley jack with a handle, air compressor, jumper leads, shackles, spare fuel filter, spare fuses, UHF radio, and a shovel.

Sure thing! We offer an extra tyre for $90 per hire. If you require, our team will securely place the tyre on the roof rack for maximum safety. However, please note that we do not provide a spare tyre for our 4WDs with roof-top tents.

Unfortunately, we don’t provide tie-down straps for our roof-racks. However, if you need to store something up there, we’d appreciate it if you would bring your own straps along. Thank you for your understanding!

Our 4WD only package does not come with camping equipment. If you require camping equipment, please consider our 4WD with Roof-Top Tent option.

Unfortunately, our 4WD package doesn’t come with an awning. However, we do have a 4WD with Roof-Top Tent option that dose include one.

Are you planning a family road trip but concerned about your little one’s safety? We’ve got you covered! You can easily hire a child seat or infant capsule for just $40 per hire. Our 4WDs also come with anchor points for up to 3 Australian Standard compliant child seats, ensuring your precious cargo stays safe and secure during your adventure.

All our vehicles come with Bluetooth, but we recommend using a phone cord to connect to the USB port on the radio. This ensures a steady connection while on the road and charges your phone at the same time!

Yes, linen is complimentary on hires exceeding 14 days and an optional extra for hires of 14 days or less.

This includes:

We apologise, but our roof-top tents are not designed for loading items on top.

Our roof-top tent is incredibly easy to assemble – simply push it up, and the two gas struts will do the work for you! Curious about how quickly you can set it up? Check out our YouTube video!

Setting up a Roof-Top Tent in 56 seconds!

Inside the roof-top tent is a standard double bed. It is approximately 2.1 meters in length, 1.3 meters in width and 1.6m in height.

Unfortunately, the vehicle is designed to comfortably accommodate two people only. We’ve heard customers requesting extra space for their kids, but fitting in the additional tent equipment, bedding, food, water, chairs, kitchen equipment, and luggage can be a difficult task, ultimately compromising a safe and comfortable trip. For your peace of mind, we strongly advise against exceeding the two-person limit.
